A Stroll in Heaven

By Michael Plemmons

For several months after my last heavenly experiences I went through some physical problems and even spent a week in the hospital. Yet in the back of my mind my heart had never left heaven and my spirit longed for more.

Today I have been caught up in the Spirit and find myself in heaven a place of such joy and peace. Simple things bring such an inner tranquility here.  At the moment I find myself lying in the middle of a large meadow, and in silent contemplation I am staring at this beautiful tree that is towering above me.

The senses are so much more highly attuned here. I feel and sense the presence of God in this tree. Each leaf is a work of art alive and vibrant with an intensity of life and beauty unlike any thing on earth. I am filled with such an inner source of peace. I am lying here in the grass surrounded by the wonders of God. Directly above is the bluest sky, to my right are an abundance of flowers, a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors and scents. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath of that wonderfully pure air that one never gets over.  The very air here is almost perfumed with the presence of God.

I shook myself from my reverie and got up and began to stroll. I am on a golden paved pathway walking in the beautiful garden of God that surrounds the city. As I walked I passed other people some in groups of two or three and I might also add each face displaying the same inner contentment that I felt in my heart.

Each person I passed I greeted with a few choice words of joy. In my heart it was always a joy to greet the redeemed here for love is the very atmosphere of this wondrous place.  A love each of us share for each other and the love we all share for our Lord. I am approaching the city and as I do so the numbers of people coming and going are increasing.

I saw a fountain of water and walked over and sat down. This fountain is quite large and I took note of several people who like myself had sat down. Some were taking a drink others were staring at the beautiful panoramic scene displayed before them.  Others in groups of two or three were engaged in lively conversation that I could not over hear but were punctuated with smiles and laughter. It brought a smile to my face for all such human contact here is of the sweetest fellowship one could ever imagine, each person sharing that inner joy one with the other that is the permanent inner repository of all here.

There are many fountains in heaven of varying size and shapes not to mention of architectural wonder but they all share one thing. The water in the fountains is living water. I bent over and using my hand as a cup I drank and my spirit was instantly charged with the power of God.

Everything here is a wonder in itself but all is designed to fill the heart with the anointing and presence of God. This fountain is in a large meadow and there are groups of people sitting here and there enjoying sweet fellowship.  Some are eating food in a picnic and others are scattered in small groups here and there altogether a couple hundred people or so. Surrounding the meadow were flowers and fruit trees. The fruit trees filled with lush and varied kinds of fruit.

Presently I got up and began to make my way to the city it was a path well traveled and as I went on it began to widen, as I got closer to the city. There is nothing but beauty everywhere I look. The path is now more like a road and to my right is the river of life its waters shimmering with the glory of God.

Lining the banks of the river on each side are the dwelling places of the redeemed. Each dwelling place in heaven is so placed that the river runs by each estate. I use the words dwelling places because the term mansion just does not justly convey the majesty of the homes here.

The closer one gets to the city the greater the hustle and activity becomes. All around me are angels and saints each engaged in a beehive of activity. In heaven we do not just sit around and meditate but are actively involved in work. My spirit was filled with a sense of great anticipation as I drew near to the city.
