Outspoken American Christians Finding Themselves Placed On Travel Restrictions To Australia and Canada
By Kade Hawkins
Christian activists who speak out for Biblical causes may find themselves facing a travel ban to certain countries, including close friends Canada and Australia.
Troy Newman is a well-known pro-life activist and was instrumental in the undercover videos that exposed the baby parts scandal involving Planned Parenthood.
Newman was on his way for a ten-city speaking tour to talk about the undercover videos and the pro-life message when he was removed from his United Airlines flight. The gate agent told Newman that the Australian Embassy had revoked his travel visa and was asking them to stop him from completing his flight. Newman caught the whole exchange on video.
The Australian government claims that Newman supports violent measures in his pro-life campaign and because of these allegations they have revoked his visa.
Newman has dismissed these charges as false and says he encourages activists to work within the government system and to work for pro-life measures peacefully.
Newman said, “The pro-abortion left in Australia does not want the people to hear the truth about these videos. It is clear that Planned Parenthood Federation of America does not want the truth to hit Australia.”
Newman is working to have the Australian government's decision reversed and is still hoping to meet his speaking obligations in Australia.
Cheryl Sullenger, Senior Policy Advisor for pro-life group Operation Rescue stated “This is political persecution, plain and simple, as well as an attempt to silence the pro-life message in Australia".
Newman is not alone is facing a controversial travel ban.
In April of last year, Peter LaBarbera was on his way to speak at a pro-life rally in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Mr. LaBarbera is the director of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality and you can guess by the organizations name that sent some red flags up to the guardians of politically correct speech.
A pro-homosexual group found about his speech and reported him to authorities complaining that his presence in Canada would violate Canada's Hate Crime Laws. Canada's hate crime laws and human rights tribunals have been lambasted by many for it's unfair treatment of Conservative Christians, including even the current Canadian government.

The Canadian left has used both to silence anyone who has views that disagree with them.
LaBarbera was planning to speak on the link between homosexual and pro-abortion activist policies but had his passport seized at the Canadian airport and was subjected to hours of interrogation.
His interrogation included questions pertaining to what he believed about homosexuality, abortion and the things he planned to say directly at his speech. His laptop was searched and his organizations website was examined for any politically incorrect content.
LaBarbera was ultimately denied entry into the country under the Canada's Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, with agents claiming that the content of his website "targets" people based on their "sexual orientation".
